What is a "vinyl t-shirt"?
As opposed to screen printing, where you use a screen and press ink onto the shirt, vinyl shirts are like taking a vinyl decal and melting it onto the shirt with a heat press. Except for this, we use special heat-reactive vinyl (not traditional vinyl). Because it's heat sensitive, it's a good idea to use precautions when caring for vinyl based shirts.
How long do the vinyl t-shirts last?
With proper care this fabric imprinting method will last just as long as screen printing.
What are precautions to take when caring for vinyl shirts?
Item should be washed inside out and set on gentle machine cycle with cold water. Our shirts are not pre-washed, so 100% cotton and 50/50 blend shirts will shrink some when washed. When drying: Tumble dry on low heat. To avoid possible shrinkage lay flat or hang to dry. Since the material is heat reactive, there is the chance of shrinkage and tightening when exposed to heat (like in the dryer). When you wash and dry do not exceed temperatures of 180°F.
